Kathy Liner Obituary

Kathy A. Liner of Culver, IN, was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She left this world on February 19, 2024 in her home surrounded by her family after a battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Kathy was born October 12, 1947 in LaSalle, IL to LeRoy and Fern (Arkins) Liner. After graduating from college she worked as a social worker then launched a career in the travel industry, first as a travel agent then as reservations agent for Eastern Airlines. She married Jeffrey Mansfield on October 6, 1979 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Oglesby IL. She then became a homemaker and raised their four children in Glen Ellyn, IL. After the children grew up, she returned to work as a secretary at St. James the Apostle Catholic Church for many years. She then went to work as a Special Needs teacher’s aide at Glen Crest Middle School in Glen Ellyn until her retirement. Kathy and Jeff moved to their vacation home in Culver, IN last year.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Tuesday February 27, 2024 with recitation of the Rosary. Public visitation will follow until 8 p.m. at Leonard Memorial Funeral Home, Glen Ellyn. Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday February 28, 2024 at St. James the Apostle Catholic Church, Glen Ellyn. Rev. Jeff Stoneberg will officiate. Burial will be at River Hills Memorial Park, Batavia.

Her dogs loved walking Kathy and visiting with others while on their walks. Kathy enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren, and hosting family and friends at the lake and on the boat. She loved baking and especially loved Christmas. She was a member of St. Mary’s of the Lake in Culver, and a member of St. James the Apostle CCW for many years.

She is survived by her husband Jeff Mansfield of Culver, IN, 4 children; Amanda (Michael) Marsh of Chesterfield, MO, Kelli (Matthew) Heisner of Sycamore, IL, Ryan Mansfield, and Maureen Mansfield both of Wheaton, IL and 5 grandchildren; Kailey, Lulu, Kelsey, Perry and Jonathan “Jack”. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association (ALZ.ORG) or the Fr. John Sebahar Servant Leadership Award with checks made out to JDCCW (Joliet Diocese Council of Catholic Women) and mailed to: Blanchette Catholic Center 16555 Weber Rd. Crest Hill, IL 60403. The award goes to two high school seniors going to college and is based on their Christian values and service to others (school, church and family).
